Our hair goals

Grace Nkan

OUR hair goal this year is to attain twelve inches or even more by our big chop anniversary which is in December! haha! This means we must have been able to retain a minimum of six inches this year alone. is this even possible with all the wear and tear that could happen?
Our middle sister gave us a huge mockery laughter when we told her of our plan. like she was literally thinking we have gone insane with our natural hair craze! Not only do we walk around the house in the dead hours of the night with dripping wet hair and feet also soaked clothes, performing one hair magic or the other; we are seriously dreaming of attaining twelve inches by December which would fall on our backs.
Truthfully we actually doubted for a few moments there, but my little sister attained six inches and a bit more in just one year, even if I  couldn't because of my growth rate I still could if I tried to retained the five inches I get in a year. So because of this we told her even though its eleven inches it still something, in fact it still falls  on both our backs. it still doesn't stop her from scorning us.

Anyway, I started with about 6.5 inches and my sister started with six inches. Last I saw my sister was in April and she had gained 7.5 inches in some part of her hair and eight inches in other parts. So that is fair enough. At the moment I am currently on nine inches and it is just the beginning of JUNE  so apparently I have retained 2.5 inches and if all goes well I should have about 9.5 at the end of the month or the beginning of next month which is extremely encouraging! it means I have 3 more inches to attain. I am not in the same country with my little one at the moment so I can't say if she has retained any length but I am hopeful  she has. like I pray all goes well so at least we would be confident for our next years goal and be able to drag others like my doubtful middle sister.

Anyways, I will talk about how I am able to retain some length in another post. I know some peoples's hair grows a lot faster even without having to do so much but I have to work on what I was given by God. Genetics tend to determine a lot but working with what you have can give happy results and I am happy with my results because I remember when I was wishing for my hair to move past the tip of my nose because it stuck there for such a looooonnng time now it's almost chin length and would pass that hopefully in a few months.
To those reading, celebrate your growth no matter how little! on average we only tend to retain six inch in a year. yes, like 1/2 inch every month! those who have faster are lucky but anyway it does not matter as far as your hair is healthy and grows that is what you need.
